The Way of Tea by Omotesenke — Guided Experience

The Way of Tea by Omotesenke — Guided Experience

Discover the heart of Japanese hospitality through an authentic Omotesenke tea ceremony. Guided by instructors trained in the Omotesenke tradition, this intimate gathering introduces the values of wa, kei, sei, jaku—harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility—through each precise movement, seasonal utensils, and the sharing of a single bowl of matcha.

You’ll begin with a brief cultural orientation (history, etiquette, and seasonal themes), followed by a live demonstration of temae (the preparation of tea). Guests then savor artisan wagashi (traditional sweets) and whisk their own bowl of matcha with gentle guidance. Our facilitators explain the meaning behind the utensils, gestures, and tearoom aesthetics so beginners feel confident while experienced guests gain deeper appreciation.

Designed for both locals and international visitors, sessions are warm, respectful, and highly accessible—no prior experience or special clothing required (light, modest attire recommended). We limit group size to protect the calm atmosphere and ensure personal attention.
